Knee pain usually comes in two forms- those injuries when you can pinpoint the exact moment you had an injury, and those that just sort of “creep up” out of nowhere! One thing is universal; when we have pain in the knee, our first instinct is protect the knee by not using it. When we do this, we lose vital muscular strength that is crucial to knee support.
The knee is a joint, made of bones and ligaments. Because we have very little control over the strength and flexibility of bones and ligaments, we must find ways to control the muscles around the knee that provide support to the joint. These muscles that are responsible for knee movement and control are the muscles of the quadriceps, hamstrings, inner and outer thigh, and the calf.
The trick to helping an injured knee lies in choosing the correct exercises. When your knee is in pain, there are certain exercises that can hurt the knee more than they will help. Our TIPS staff will help create a program that is appropriate for you. TIPS has also worked extensively on perfecting our Lifting and Bending technique to take unwanted stress off of the joints, such as the knee. Our hands on approach will help you feel the difference as you learn how to use your body correctly.
